SIMON LAWSON
SIMON LAWSON is a saxophone and clarinet player. He played many pop and jazz gigs in the eighties and nineties including the Soho Jazz festival with Michael Horovitz and Dick Heckstall-Smith, alongside a residency at the BBC World Service bar. After a hiatus concentrating on the visual arts he has recently directed his musical passion to free improvisation after joining the Lo-fi Improvised Music Workshop in 2022 and more recently frequenting the London Improvisation Workshop.
He can now be found regularly performing in satellite groups derived from these. He recently played the newly formed Improvox night at the Bridewell Theatre Bar in a duet with Matt Scott on accordion and is currently playing alongside Mario Guarnieri in a drums and sax duo as ‘Mario and Me’.
